Since launch in 2007 Cinesamples has provided composers with high quality, innovative products at reasonable prices. The company was created with the goal to create niche libraries that would fulfill specific gaps left by other sampling companies. Each consecutive release since has been produced within this standard.

Cinesamples’ products have been used across the globe and can have been featured in blockbuster film, television, trailer and video game releases.

Two 80’s kids from New York who somehow managed to develop a taste for Beethoven during the addictive age of gangster rap and grunge rock. As children, they both studied piano with a stern but not yet overpowering interest as Patti was determined to become a computer programmer and Barry a goaltender for the New York Rangers. However, life changed in a heartbeat one summer in 1993 for the two kids at the movies with their parents. Hearing the majestic 4 trumpet unison of the “Islar Nublar” Theme from Jurassic Park spawned a nearly unhealthy obsession with film music for both of them. Piano lessons suddenly became interesting and on occasion metronomes were used during the most serious moments of private study. Each pupil graduating from training from Jullliard alumni. Following high school, Patti went on to university graduating from Hofstra with a degree in composition and Barry from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in piano performance.

Their first encounter was in the summer vacation of 1999 where they both had jobs at a fancy band camp, where there jobs were accompanying musical theatre productions for the summer -often holding contests to see who could improvise the most incidental music without being caught by the director. Breaks were spent finding mistakes on film albums, discussing the James Horner danger motif and things of that nature.
USC War Drama – Michael Barry

Following undergrad, Patti moved to Los Angeles to attend USC’s Film Scoring Program. Barry following in tow the next year upon his own graduation. In addition to the excellent academic education, they also received an introduction to life off campus – highlights include the drive-by gang shooting in the drive way and missing Chris Young’s class because of SWAT team invasions across the street (of which a very interesting video account from the roof still exists). The primary difference between the two’s experiences being that Patti was able to secure a small meet and greet with John Williams while Barry, with all his desperate attempts, has not been able to as of yet. In the years since USC, both Mikes have enjoyed careers composing for television, games and movies.

Cinesamples was founded with the intent of creating samples for ourselves, and later for others, which we simply could not find in the trade market.
